If you are friendly, outgoing and love animals, we have great volunteer opportunities for you. Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to the quality of A New Beginning Animal Rescue's initiatives, enabling us to ensure that each animal we rescue is safe, well-cared for, loved, and given a chance to prepare and to find its forever home.
If you need court-ordered community service hours, please see the Community Service page.
Please note that ANBAR asks different time commitments and requirements depending on the volunteer opportunities. Most volunteer positions in ANBAR require a minimum commitment of 1 year, 8 hours (2-hour weekly shift) a month.
If you would like to help out for a shorter period of time, (6 month minimum, 2 hours a week), please complete the application and we will contact you with information about opportunities! All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation. Once we have received your application, you will be contacted by email to set up a time to attend an orientation. Orientations are held once a month. This training session will familiarize you with the Kitty Center, animals, proper procedures, safety and how to log your volunteer hours.
Minimum Age: 18 years old. Youth age 16-18 can volunteer with our socialized cats at the Kitty Center (Bountiful, UT), once they have their parent/legal guardian sign the Volunteer Waiver & Release form and accompanied one-on-one by a parent or legal guardian. Because of insurance considerations and state regulations, we are restricted in our ability to provide hands-on animal projects for children. Many of the animals that come to us have unknown histories. All people working at our rescue need to be able to manage unpredictable situations.
In general, we ask all volunteers to:
- Be at least 18 years of age; 21 years of age for foster service
- Reside in Layton, Roy, Ogden, or Bountiful, UT
- Participate in training, in-service, and orientation programs
- Respect organization and stakeholder confidentiality and rights
- Follow ANBAR's policies and procedures
- Commit to a minimum of 8 hours each month (2-hour weekly shift) for one year
- Purchase an ANBAR T-shirt for $10
